Given the displacement of Hurricane Simón, the National Port System Administration Manzanillo (ASIPONA) recommends the public to stay informed and attentive to the evolution of this meteorological phenomenon, as well as to follow the instructions of the corresponding authorities.
According to information released by the National Meteorological Service (SMN), this morning Hurricane Simón was located approximately 345 kilometers south of Manzanillo, Colima, and 515 kilometers south-southeast of Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco. The system registered maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour (km/h), gusts of 185 km/h, and was moving northwest at 7 km/h.
Due to the location and evolution of the phenomenon, the SMN, in coordination with the United States National Hurricane Center, maintains a hurricane wind watch from Punta San Telmo, Michoacán, to Punta Mita, Nayarit, as well as a tropical storm wind watch from Punta San Telmo to Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán.
Given this scenario, ASIPONA Manzanillo recommends the public to be prepared for the probability of intense rains, to heed official warnings, and to take precautions against possible effects, such as floods, waterlogging, and other risks associated with precipitation.
