Peru's Ministry of Transport and Communications and DP World Callao announced the implementation of a humanitarian maritime corridor between Callao and Paita. The measure aims to ensure the transfer of aid to northern areas affected by the El Niño phenomenon.
The initiative will leverage available port, logistics, and maritime infrastructure to mobilize food, medicine, and other essential goods. DP World Callao will coordinate the preparation and consolidation of cargo, embarkation, and monitoring of the operation to Paita.
Maritime transport will be handled by Hapag-Lloyd, with prioritized unloading at the Port Terminal of Paita and subsequent transfer to final destinations. Storage, terminal use, and transport operations will be covered by private operators, incurring no costs for the State.
