The Minister of Transport and Communications, José Angello Tangherlini, presented a portfolio of transport infrastructure projects that could attract investments from German companies, during a meeting with the Deputy Minister of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, Stefan Rouenhoff, and the German Ambassador to Peru, Sabine Bloch.
During the meeting, the head of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) detailed the main projects that are part of the sector's priorities, such as the expansion of the Lima and Callao Metro lines, the Chinchero International Airport and its access roads, as well as the expansion of the new Jorge Chávez International Airport.
Regarding the mass transit system, the minister reported on the progress of Metro Line 3, currently in the structuring phase with the support of ProInversión, an infrastructure that presents conditions for faster progress, according to the sector's evaluation.
In the case of Chinchero International Airport, the minister explained that the development of its access roads was identified as a priority need, while for the new Jorge Chávez International Airport, the execution of a connection between the air terminal and the future station of Line 4's branch was proposed, taking advantage of the space planned during the construction process.
During the meeting, air connectivity between both countries was also addressed. The German representative expressed his expectation that, in the future, a direct flight between Peru and Germany could be materialized, for which bilateral coordination must continue and the framework of current agreements with the European Union must be considered.
