The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), through Provías, continues with the construction of the Boca del Río–Tacna highway, an important road infrastructure project that will improve the connection between the city of Tacna and the region's coast, and will contribute to the development of economic, commercial, and tourist activities in the south of the country.
Currently, the project has a 9% completion rate and includes the construction of a modern 47.52-kilometer highway, with two main carriageways of two lanes in each direction, as well as auxiliary carriageways, overpasses, vehicular and pedestrian bridges, and bike paths.
Among the main works currently being carried out, the formation of the main road platform stands out, which includes excavation in earthworks, construction of embankments, placement of subbase and granular base, as well as priming work.
Likewise, the foundation work for the La Curva underpass is progressing, which will feature a 35-meter long bridge. The construction of seven pedestrian bridges and reinforced concrete walls at kilometers 15, 16, 23, 25, and 26 of the road is also underway.
In parallel, work continues on the relocation of irrigation canals located between kilometers 32, 34, and 36, as part of the necessary interventions for the development of the new highway.
Once completed, the infrastructure will improve access to the Tacna coast, optimize transit conditions, and reduce travel times, generating better conditions for the movement of people and the transport of goods and services.
The new highway will directly benefit more than 137,000 inhabitants and will contribute to strengthening Tacna's productive, commercial, and tourist activity, through modern, safe, and efficient road infrastructure.
With this project, the MTC, through Provías Nacional, continues to promote strategic projects that strengthen road connectivity and generate better conditions for the development of Tacna and the south of the country.
