The Minister of Transport and Communications of Peru, Rafael Rey, held a meeting with representatives of the Latin American and Caribbean Development Bank (CAF). The meeting aimed to review actions focused on promoting and strengthening the country's strategic infrastructure.
Regarding the meeting, the ministry (MTC) reported that "CAF informed that technical cooperation for the pre-investment of the Barranca–Trujillo section has approximately USD 4 million. These resources will allow progress in the corresponding studies, after which the Government will evaluate the next stages of the project."
Additionally, it was communicated that "progress on the tourist corridor to Choquequirao was addressed, which includes improving road connectivity to this important destination and its access points with the future cable car. It was also reported that the necessary agreements are being worked on to continue with the preparation of this initiative."
"The prioritization of the Northern Beaches tourist corridor was reviewed, which will connect destinations such as Zorritos, Punta Sal, the Tumbes Mangroves, Talara, Cabo Blanco, Los Órganos, and Máncora. The proposal considers the articulation of road accesses to consolidate the tourist circuit of the area," it was added.
Finally, the international bank expressed its willingness to continue providing technical assistance for prioritized initiatives related to road infrastructure, digital connectivity, fiber optics, cable cars, and commuter trains.
