The National Port Authority (APN) approved the Master Plan for the Corío Port Terminal, a planning document that establishes the development vision, technical guidelines, and implementation stages for this important infrastructure located in the district of Punta de Bombón, Islay province, Arequipa region.
The approval of the Master Plan constitutes a milestone for the port development of the southern part of the country, laying the groundwork for the execution of a project that will contribute to strengthening national logistical connectivity and consolidating Peru as a strategic hub for regional trade and integration with Brazil, via the Southern Interoceanic Highway.
The port project involves an investment of over 800 million dollars in its three development stages and includes the construction of a multipurpose terminal, with capacity to handle general cargo, containers, and solid bulk. This infrastructure will expand the operational capacity of the National Port System and meet the growing demands of international trade.
According to the Master Plan, the development of this infrastructure will boost economic activity through new investments, which will contribute to the generation of direct and indirect jobs, fostering the sustainable development of its area of influence.
With the approval of this planning instrument, the APN reaffirms its commitment to the modernization and development of the National Port System and Peru.
