Strait of Hormuz threat level raised to 'Severe' after three tanker attacks
Three commercial tankers were attacked near the Strait of Hormuz over 24 hours, prompting the Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC) to raise the security threat level from "Substantial" to "Severe." The Qatari LNG carrier Al Rekayyat and Saudi crude oil tanker Wedyan were identified as two of the vessels struck. JMIC warned that deliberate hostile action against commercial shipping is now considered likely in the waterway.
