The National Port System Administration Manzanillo (ASIPONA) collected approximately one and a half tons of trash from the port dock this week.
To this end, the agency deployed a brigade that removed all kinds of waste from the waters: plastics, tires, wood pieces, and other debris, which were removed from the water to prevent further contamination of the bay and the area where port operations take place. These tasks are part of the permanent cleaning brigades carried out by the port authority.
These works are carried out from a vessel dedicated to collecting waste concentrated on the water's surface.
The aim is to prevent this waste from being carried out to sea.
Some of this waste comes from the stream beds that flow into the port area, including those of Jalipa and Punta de Agua. This prevents them from moving to other areas of the port facility or accumulating on the seabed.
With these efforts, ASIPONA Manzanillo contributes to the care and conservation of the environment, while maintaining adequate cleanliness conditions within the port.
