MTC presents prevention plan for Coastal El Niño Phenomenon until 2027
The Ministry of Transport and Communications developed the Activity Plan for the El Niño Phenomenon 2026-2027, in response to the Coastal El Niño alert foreseen by ENFEN until February 2027. The plan includes road maintenance, installation of modular bridges, reinforcement of emergency systems such as REDSAT, RECSE, and the 119 service, as well as technical assistance to regional governments. Between 2017 and 2026, Cajamarca, Piura, and Amazonas recorded the highest number of road emergencies due to extreme climatic events.
