The Panama Canal today illuminated its Administration Building in pink and blue, commemorating the breast and prostate cancer prevention campaign. The act aimed to contribute to public awareness of these diseases and highlight the value of prevention, medical check-ups, and early detection.
The Panama Canal Administrator, Ilya Espino de Marotta, stated during the commemorative event: "Early detection can make a huge difference. Taking care of ourselves is taking care of those we love most. Today we are sending a message about the importance of prevention. Let's make this a habit and accompaniment an expression of humanity."
"We urge everyone to take that step towards prevention, attend clinics, and undergo the corresponding examinations," said Rubén Pérez, Vice President of Human Capital. This call was accompanied by testimonies from Panama Canal employees, who shared their experiences and highlighted the importance of early detection and regular medical follow-up.
Due to its presence in the country's history and institutional life, the Administration Building is one of the Canal's most recognizable landmarks. Its illumination in pink and blue transforms this emblematic space into a visible call to pay greater attention to cancer prevention and health care.
With this action, the Panama Canal supports national and global awareness efforts and reaffirms its willingness to contribute to the well-being of the population and the sustainable development of Panama.
