Panama Canal Increases Daily Transits to 33 and Draft to 49 Feet
The Panama Canal authorized a maximum draft of 49 feet for Neopanamax vessels starting September 28. As of October 15, daily transits will increase from 32 to 33, with 10 Neopanamax and 23 Panamax slots. The Canal Authority indicated that hydrological projections support the expansion, although water deficit conditions persist in the basin.
