Panama Canal Restrictions Increase Costs and Delays for Hapag-Lloyd

Hapag-Lloyd warned that Panama Canal restrictions are increasing costs and causing delays in its operations. Since September 3, daily slots in Neopanamax locks were adjusted to nine and Panamax to 25, with the latter reducing to 23 from September 15. The shipping company implemented a Panama Canal Surcharge of 130 dollars per TEU for traffic between the Far East and North America, in addition to evaluating alternative routes.
