Panama Canal Postpones Neopanamax Draft Reduction to 47.5 Feet

The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) postponed a planned reduction in maximum draft for Neopanamax vessels from 48 feet to 47.5 feet (14.48 meters), originally scheduled for October 1. The decision follows review of Gatun Lake levels and weather forecasts amid El Niño concerns. Neopanamax capacity was reduced to nine daily slots beginning September 3, while Panamax capacity remains at 25 slots, scheduled to fall to 23 on September 15.
