AMP and IDB Evaluate Progress and Projections of Puerto Armuelles Multipurpose Dock

With the aim of advancing the logistical and operational planning of the western region of the country, the Administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP), Luis Roquebert, and the Director of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Panama, Gloria Lugo, carried out a high-level technical mission to the construction site of the Puerto Armuelles Multipurpose Dock.

The delegation was composed of Manuel Rodríguez, IDB Lead Transport Specialist; Ibis Pérez, Director of Planning, and Rolando Cuevas, Technical Advisor of the AMP; as well as representatives from the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) and the Ministry of Housing and Land Management (MIVIOT).

During the visit, the authorities conducted a technical tour of the dock's area of influence to analyze road connectivity, the logistics hinterland, and conceptual designs for a potential expansion of the platform. Likewise, the agenda included a visit to a local palm oil processing plant, in order to identify the potential demand for port services and articulate the maritime infrastructure with regional supply chains.

With this meeting, the AMP and the IDB consolidate a technically and financially viable strategy that promotes the economic development of the province of Chiriquí and boosts maritime trade in western Panama.
