Panama Canal Conducts Dry Chamber Maintenance to Strengthen Safe and Efficient Operation of Gatun Locks
The Panama Canal is carrying out reconditioning and inspection work at the Gatun Locks using a dry chamber procedure from June 8 to 17 on gates 33 and 34 of the east lane. This procedure allows for the detection of leaks, reduction of water loss, and inspection of corrosion protection systems. Annually, the organization invests over B/. 500 million in infrastructure maintenance.
