Gas Tanker Collision with Fishing Trawler Triggers SAR Operation off South Korea
The Ulsan Coast Guard conducted a search and rescue operation on June 25 after the 1,300-dwt LPG carrier Gas Broadway collided with the 79-ton fishing boat Dong-A No. 3 at approximately 10:10 am local time. Eight crew members were thrown into the water; six were recovered with hypothermia, while two Indonesian crew members in their 30s remained missing. The trawler's captain, a South Korean in his 60s, was pronounced deceased. President Lee Jae Myung was briefed and ordered full-scale mobilization.
