Newark Port: Ramp Handles 1,500 Trucks Per Peak Hour
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey inaugurated a new ramp on Corbin Street leading to the Port of Newark in July. This new entrance handles approximately 3,600 vehicles per peak hour, 40% of which (1,500) are trucks. The ramp is part of the $220 million Port Street Corridor Improvement Project, partially funded by a $44 million federal grant. The project is expected to save 700,000 travel hours, reduce accidents by over 35%, and prevent 750 tons of carbon emissions annually upon completion in 2028.
