Built to handle demanding vessel-assistance operations, the 37.5-meter tug is powered by two permanent magnet motors rated at 1,840 kilowatts each and can reach speeds of at least 12.5 knots.

Its 5,800-kWh lithium iron phosphate battery system supports extended operations and fast charging, while an intelligent monitoring system enables real-time data transmission and remote maintenance.

The vessel operates without exhaust emissions or oil pollution. Compared with conventional diesel-powered tugs of the same class, it is expected to bring operating costs down to just 30–40 percent and reduce annual carbon emissions by around 900 metric tons.

The new addition reflects Yantai Port's broader push to modernize its fleet through electrification and digital technologies. By upgrading vessels and integrating smarter management systems, the port is working towards a more reliable, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly marine support network.
