The Panama Canal Authority expects to announce the prequalified companies and consortia to participate in the tender for two new container terminals before the end of 2026. The projects will be located in Corozal, on the Pacific, and Telfers, on the Atlantic.
The initiative is part of an investment plan aimed at expanding port capacity and strengthening cargo transshipment operations. Additionally, it seeks to reduce operational restrictions, diversify logistics services, and improve the country's maritime and land connectivity.
Furthermore, the canal authority is analyzing a third port project to address the growing demand in international maritime trade. These investments seek to consolidate Panama as a regional logistics hub and strengthen its participation in global supply chains.
