Viking Ullur Cruise Ship Stranded on Danube River in Bulgaria
The Viking Ullur, a 2019-built river cruise ship, ran aground on the Danube River near Vidin in Northwestern Bulgaria on Tuesday. Over 185 passengers and 50 crew members were evacuated by patrol boat after failed refloating efforts. The incident is linked to record-low water levels affecting cruise and shipping operations across the region. The vessel's itinerary includes Serbia, Romania, Croatia and Hungary.
