(1:16 p.m. EDT) — PortMiami welcomed its 10 millionth cruise passenger on September 14, setting a new annual record.
The port has surpassed its previous high of 8,564,225 cruise passengers, with two weeks still remaining in the 2026 fiscal year.
The milestone marks the highest annual passenger volume in the port's history.
"Breaking the 10 million passenger threshold is a testament to PortMiami's unwavering dedication to service, sustainability and economic vitality," said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. "This extraordinary milestone underscores our port's role as a global gateway and a driver of job creation, tourism and local business growth."
Port Director and CEO Jonathan Daniels added: "I'm immensely proud of our team and cruise and port partners, whose collaborative efforts made this achievement possible. Reaching 10 million passengers reflects our focus on innovation, efficiency and superior passenger experience, as we continue to modernize PortMiami's infrastructure and expand our capacity for future growth."
The port credits its modern infrastructure, including recently completed terminals that can accommodate the world's largest cruise ships, as a key factor in achieving this milestone. The facilities are designed to improve passenger flow and streamline embarkation and debarkation processes.
The new record underscores PortMiami's role as a major gateway for the cruise industry. With millions of passengers passing through its terminals each year, it serves as an important driver of tourism and economic activity in Miami-Dade County.
In 2025, PortMiami was the world's second busiest cruise port, surpassed by Port Canaveral. The Central Florida port welcomed 8,602,047 passengers, or 37,822 cruisers more than its South Floridian counterpart. According to projections, Port Canaveral is expected to welcome 9 million passengers in fiscal year 2026.
