Scenic Group entered a partnership with Assam Bengal Navigation, an Indo-British family-owned company that operates cruises along the Brahmaputra River in northern India.
This signals Scenic Group's expansion into the India market, marrying ABN's more than two decades of experience operating on the Brahmaputra and Ganges with its own expertise in all-inclusive, luxury cruising.
It follows the news in June that Scenic Aura will sail on the Hooghly River, a distributary of the Ganges, from October next year.
There has been strong demand for Scenic Aura's inaugural 2027-28 season in India, with limited availability remaining.
"India offers extraordinary potential for luxury river cruising," Scenic Group founder and Chairman Glen Moroney said.
"Our partnership with Assam Bengal Navigation gives us the benefit of deep local expertise and an established operating platform, while allowing Scenic to bring its international experience in luxury cruising to the market," Moroney said.
"Scenic Aura is the first step in what we expect will be a long-term commitment to India."
"This partnership brings together our operating experience and knowledge of India's rivers with Scenic's global luxury cruise expertise, brand and international distribution," Ashish Phookan, founder and MD of Assam Bengal Navigation, said.
"We believe it can significantly expand India's position on the global river-cruise map."
