Ecuador's continental and insular coasts will experience an increase in wave energy between June 23 and 25, according to the analysis issued by the Oceanographic and Antarctic Institute of the Navy (INOCAR). The phenomenon will be associated with the arrival of waves from the southwest Pacific, generating moderate to rough sea conditions in different areas of the coast.
According to maritime projections, wave heights of up to 2.40 meters are expected in sectors of the Galapagos and values close to 1.90 meters on the continental coast, especially in Santa Elena and Guayas. Authorities recommended caution to sailors, fishermen, and maritime operators due to the possible presence of rip currents and increased intensity in breaking wave zones.
The ocean conditions require monitoring to ensure the safety of activities related to maritime transport, port operations, and coastal activities. The evolution of the swell will be monitored by maritime authorities with the aim of preventing risks and maintaining the continuity of operations related to national maritime connectivity.
