The National Government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries (MAGP), is strengthening an agricultural diversification strategy aimed at expanding Ecuador's exportable offer and generating new opportunities for producers. The initiative is part of the Agricultural Public Policy 2025-2034, which prioritizes 32 agro-productive chains with the potential to supply national and international markets, boost employment, and strengthen the competitiveness of the export sector.
As part of this policy, training programs, technical assistance, knowledge transfer, and the promotion of good agricultural practices are being implemented, in addition to the establishment of demonstration plots for the adoption of new technologies. The results reflect sustained growth in strategic products such as cocoa, broccoli, pineapple, and coconut. Cocoa stands out, with exports increasing from 426,274 tons in 2024 to 549,448 tons in 2025, while other prioritized products also recorded significant increases in their export volumes and presence in international markets.
The strengthening and diversification of agro-export production contribute to expanding foreign trade flows and generating new opportunities for logistics chains and maritime transport. The increase in exported volumes demands greater storage capacities, port services, and international connectivity, consolidating the strategic role of Ecuadorian ports as fundamental platforms for national production to access global markets.
