The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport awarded the Chinese company China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation the construction of section 1A of the Fifth Bridge or Southern Viaduct project in Guayaquil. The project aims to improve connectivity between the country's road corridors and the seaports located in the south of the city, strengthening strategic infrastructure for foreign trade and cargo mobility.
The project includes the construction of a viaduct approximately 2.5 kilometers long, with connections to Avenida 25 de Julio and the port sector, as well as access points for urban and cargo traffic. The infrastructure is designed to handle high daily vehicular demand and includes overpasses, connection ramps, complementary mobility systems, and public spaces with criteria of sustainability, safety, and urban recovery.
The execution of this work will optimize travel times to maritime terminals, improve logistical efficiency, and strengthen the competitiveness of Guayaquil's port system. Likewise, it will contribute to greater integration between supply chains, production centers, and export ports, consolidating the operational capacity of Ecuador's main logistical hub.
