The Government of Ecuador, in coordination with the Ecuadorian Navy and United States authorities, has incorporated the Isla Puná patrol boat, previously named "USCG Orcas," as part of bilateral cooperation mechanisms in maritime security. This delivery strengthens the country's operational capabilities for monitoring strategic maritime spaces and protecting routes linked to foreign trade and international maritime transport.
The vessel will be deployed for coastal patrolling operations, maritime monitoring, and supervision of naval corridors of high logistical relevance. The Isla Puná is equipped with specialized equipment for control and surveillance tasks, optimizing the Navy's operational capacity in areas near ports, maritime terminals, and commercial routes in the Pacific. Furthermore, the cooperation between Ecuador and the United States includes technical assistance and institutional strengthening in maritime security.
The incorporation of new naval capabilities reaffirms the importance of maritime security for the stability of logistics chains and the continuity of port operations. This type of international cooperation contributes to strengthening the confidence of maritime and commercial operators, consolidating safer conditions for international trade, regional connectivity, and the protection of Ecuador's strategic infrastructure.
