The Carnival Vista recently completed its tenth year of service for Carnival Cruise Line after being delivered on April 28, 2016.
As the first ship in the company's Vista-class series, the vessel was built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy.
According to Carnival, the ship was designed to offer the ultimate family vacation experience, debuting a variety of one-of-a-kind onboard features.
Among the new elements that debuted on the vessel were a suspended cycling experience called SkyRide and the Family Harbor staterooms.
The ship was also the first to offer an IMAX Theater at sea, in addition to an enhanced WaterWorks water park featuring Carnival's first inner-tube slide.
As part of its maiden season, the Carnival Vista offered a series of eight- to ten-night itineraries to destinations in the Mediterranean.
For its inaugural voyage, the 135,000-ton vessel offered a special 13-night cruise that sailed from Trieste to Barcelona.
The itinerary featured visits to ports in Italy, Croatia, Greece, Malta and France, including Dubrovnik, Piraeus, Izmir, Heraklion, Valletta, Palermo, Civitavecchia, Livorno and Marseille.
As reported by Cruise Industry News at the time, the deployment was marked by inaugural calls for Carnival, with the Vista making the company's first visits to Heraklion and Corfu in Greece, Valletta in Malta, Palermo in Sicily, Cagliari in Sardinia and Gibraltar.
Following its season in Europe, the vessel offered a 13-day trans-Atlantic crossing to New York City that departed from Barcelona in late October 2016.
The Carnival Vista then embarked on a series of cruises from the Big Apple before repositioning to Miami ahead of the 2016-17 winter season.
Once in South Florida, the ship kicked off a year-round series of weeklong cruises to the Caribbean and the Bahamas.
Currently sailing from Port Canaveral, the 4,000-passenger ship is offering six- and eight-night itineraries to the Southern and Eastern Caribbean.
The cruises are highlighted by visits to Carnival's private island destinations of Celebration Key and RelaxAway Half Moon Cay.
Other ports of call being visited by the vessel include San Juan in Puerto Rico, Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic, Oranjestad in Aruba and Willemstad in Curaçao.
