Northern Lights receives fourth vessel for liquefied CO2 transport

Northern Lights welcomed the Northern Purpose, its fourth liquefied carbon dioxide (LCO2) carrier vessel from China.

Along with the Northern Pioneer, Northern Pathfinder, and Northern Phoenix, this vessel ensures Northern Lights' transport capacity and supports the growing demand for CO2 transport and storage services across Europe.

"With the arrival of the Northern Purpose, we have completed the fleet necessary for Phase 1 operations. This is an important milestone for Northern Lights, which will allow us to guarantee reliable and flexible CO2 transport and storage services to our customers across Europe," stated Tim Heijn, Managing Director of Northern Lights JV.

After its delivery by Dalian Shipbuilding Offshore Company (DSOC), the Northern Purpose sailed from Asia to Europe and has now arrived in Norway, ready to support upcoming customer operations.

Currently, Northern Lights operates the world's largest fleet dedicated to commercial CO2 transport. As demand for carbon capture and storage (CCS) grows, the company continues to expand its transport capacity through Phase 2, which includes the addition of larger CO2 vessels starting in 2028.
