The Multi-Operated Terminal, managed by Empresa Portuaria Iquique (EPI), received the arrival of the factory ship Annelies Ilena, thus continuing the line of operations of this type of vessel that the Iquique port facility has been consolidating. The cargo's final destinations are the markets of Germany and Ivory Coast.
The vessel unloaded a cargo of 4,800 tons of jack mackerel and mackerel, processed and frozen on board, equivalent to more than 204,000 boxes that were consolidated in 167 refrigerated containers.
"As in previous operations of this type, the resource extraction was carried out on the high seas, outside Chile's territorial waters, under the international quotas assigned by the corresponding fisheries management organizations," EPI stated.
The unloading and consolidation operations were carried out in 7 work shifts, "with outstanding performance and operational efficiency, which reflects the logistical capacity installed in the Multi-Operated Terminal," emphasized the state-owned port company.
EPI highlighted that each arrival of a factory ship immediately reactivates the local logistics chain, contributing to employment and strengthening regional port activity.
"This new arrival reaffirms the operational diversification vocation of the Port of Iquique and its connectivity with global markets, consolidating it as a strategic player in the economic development of the northern macrozone," EPI underscored.
The management of the arrival and operations was handled by Empresa Portuaria Iquique (EPI) and the company Nexoport.
