The CMA CGM Foundation and Happy Hearts Indonesia inaugurated the YASPI Education Foundation in North Jakarta, in the presence of Ikram Ghazali, General Manager of CMA CGM Indonesia, and Sylvia Beiwinkler, CEO of Happy Hearts Indonesia.
The educational complex, renovated through the partnership, welcomes nearly 700 students from primary to high school. Following extensive renovation, it now provides children with a safe, functional and inspiring learning environment.
The renovation project included the refurbishment of six classrooms, fifteen lavatories, a teachers' room and a computer laboratory, the construction of an additional classroom, and the creation of a library from a repurposed shipping container.
The new library provides students with a dedicated space to read, learn and discover, further enriching their educational environment.

For years, the students at YASPI studied in conditions that hindered their potential, but seeing their faces today in these bright, upgraded classrooms and unique container library changes everything. Working alongside the CMA CGM Foundation isn't just about constructing better buildings, it's about giving these kids the real chance and resources they need to thrive," said Sylvia Beiwinkler, CEO of Happy Hearts Indonesia.

Since 2024, the CMA CGM Foundation has partnered with Happy Hearts Indonesia, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving education for children in underserved areas, to renovate schools and provide children with safe, functional and inspiring learning environments across Indonesia.
Since its launch, the partnership has continued to expand its impact across the country. The first two schools, SMP Tri Guna Bhakti and SMP Bina Karya in Surabaya, now provide improved learning conditions for nearly 800 students.
The next phase of the partnership will see the completion of the renovation of MTS El Nur Kasysyaf in North Jakarta. Scheduled to open in the coming months, the school will welcome around 100 middle school students, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 1,600 children.
CMA CGM Group staff members play an integral role in this collaboration by volunteering throughout the year. Their contributions range from assisting with renovation works to organizing reading sessions and sports activities for the children.
In addition, a three-year training program for teachers and staff is being implemented alongside the renovation works in each school. The program focuses on financial and management skills to enhance teaching quality, ensure the school's sustainability, and strengthen overall administration.
Altogether, these projects are expected to positively impact more than 6,000 community members in Surabaya and Jakarta in the coming years.
CMA CGM has been operating in Indonesia for more than 25 years, with 8 offices and over 500 staff members.
