The Mejillones Logistics Platform (PLM) project, promoted by the Mejillones Port Complex (CPM), is advancing in the development of an integrated space for logistics, industrial, and port support services in the bay of the commune and city in Chile's Norte Grande. This aims to respond to the projected growth in mining, energy, and foreign trade in the Antofagasta Region.
This was presented by CPM at a presentation held before the Chilean Chamber of Construction (CChC) of Antofagasta, where the strategic role of Mejillones in the logistical and port development of the northern macro-zone was discussed.
The presentation included the participation of CPM General Manager, Juan Alberto Ruiz, and CPM Development Manager, José Luis Noguer, who addressed the challenges associated with the development of the region's industries and the need to strengthen logistical capabilities to meet the requirements of projects to be promoted in the coming years.
In this context, the executives presented the progress of the PLM, a project driven by the company, aimed at developing an integrated space for logistics, industrial, and port support services in Mejillones Bay.
They also highlighted its main strategic advantages, including its location in the industrial district and its connectivity with structuring routes, railway lines, port terminals, and companies established in the area.
"Mejillones today plays an increasingly relevant role in the productive development of the region and the country. At CPM, we are prepared to strengthen this logistical and industrial capacity through our Mejillones Logistics Platform project, which will provide infrastructure and spaces to accompany the growth of operations linked to mining, energy, and foreign trade, and thus contribute to connecting industry with global markets," CPM communicated.
Meanwhile, the past president of CChC Antofagasta, Jorge Maturana, valued the instance of dialogue and analysis around initiatives that contribute to the development and strengthening of the necessary infrastructure to accompany the productive growth of the region.
"As the Chilean Chamber of Construction Antofagasta, we firmly believe that creating these spaces for encounter and connection is fundamental to boosting regional growth and promoting a shared vision of development. Our region faces significant challenges in terms of competitiveness, productive diversification, and sustainability, and projects like the one we learned about today represent a concrete opportunity to move in that direction," Maturana indicated.
The activity was carried out within the framework of the linking actions between CPM and the Chilean Chamber of Construction, aimed at sharing strategic projects and promoting spaces for collaboration for the growth of regional infrastructure.
