The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) of Paraguay stated that work on Lot 1 of PY15 route, corresponding to the Bioceanic Corridor in the Paraguayan Chaco, continues to advance at a good and sustained pace, despite the adverse weather conditions recorded in recent days.
According to the ministry, although unstable weather temporarily limited some activities, the technical team managed to keep strategic fronts operational. Currently, tasks are focused on preparing the platform for the execution of the granular soil-cement base, after completing the first 10 kilometers of asphalt base.
The status of the works was recently verified during a visit by representatives of the financing body and the Ministry of Public Works and Communications. During the tour, authorities checked the level of work execution and highlighted the performance of the contracting company.
According to the organization, in addition to improving regional connectivity, the Bioceanic Corridor seeks to transform the reality of numerous Chaco communities through a year-round passable road. This is fundamental in an area where rains often hinder access to essential services such as health and education.
In Lot 1, special priority has been given to the maintenance and improvement of roads in indigenous communities. In parallel, work is progressing on the construction of school classrooms, contributing to the strengthening of educational infrastructure and the social development of the region.
The execution of this section is in charge of the Pacific Consortium (EDB Construcciones), under the supervision of the MOPC and with financing from the Development Bank (Fonplata). The project is part of the paving of 224 kilometers of the PY15 route, between Mariscal Estigarribia and Pozo Hondo.
The initiative is divided into four lots and aims to strengthen the connectivity of the Chaco, facilitating regional integration and commercial flow between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.
