Reopening of 42 km Limerick-Foynes Rail Corridor

Shannon Foynes Port celebrated the reopening of the Limerick-Foynes freight rail line, as it represents a transformative investment in Ireland's transport and logistics infrastructure.

Once operational, the re-established 42-kilometer rail corridor will reconnect the deep-water port of Foynes with the national rail network, providing customers with a reliable, efficient, and more sustainable freight transport solution, while strengthening the resilience of Ireland's supply chain.

"This project is a key element of both Shannon Foynes Port Company's Vision 2041 and Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail's Freight 2040 Strategy, supporting the transition towards lower-carbon freight transport and reinforcing Foynes Port's position as one of Ireland's most important commercial gateways," stated Shannon Foynes Port Company.
