San Vicente Terminal Internacional (SVTI) has exceeded 3,600 effective hours of training with its crane operator simulator. The tool has allowed for strengthening team training in a safe, controlled, and highly specialized environment.
Since 2025, the terminal has accumulated 1,981 hours of training and 1,674 hours of retraining. In the same period, SVTI has registered three graduated MHC operators, 17 retrained MHC operators, four MHC students qualified in the intermediate stage of training, and four students in the final stage of STS simulator training.
In this regard, the Regional Secretary of Economy, Development and Tourism of Bio Bio, Cristian Cifuentes, stated that this technology 'allows recreating conditions very similar to real operation, identifying gaps and strengthening the skills of operators, contributing to both worker safety and operational efficiency'.
Meanwhile, the Regional Secretary of Labor and Social Welfare of Bio Bio, Camila Álvarez, added that 'this simulator, unique nationwide and one of only three in Latin America, highlights the importance SVTI places on the training and professional development of its operators'.
The simulator is part of Hanseatic Global Terminals Latin America -SVTI's operator- and has contributed to the development of capabilities in port safety and operation. The productivity increase in the last 3 months for the retrained MHC operators is reported to be +5.6%.
'The balance has been very positive. It has allowed us to train and retrain operators in safe conditions, strengthen their technical skills, and support more efficient operations. It directly contributes to the productivity, safety, and professional development of our teams,' said SVTI General Manager, Juan Pablo Santibáñez.
The technology allows for recreating different operational scenarios, weather conditions, and critical situations, providing an experience close to real operation.
By 2026, SVTI plans to qualify six new MHC operators and four STS operators, as part of the continuity of its training plan.
