CIMC Raffles signed the contract for the EPCIC project of the Greater PAJ FPSO, a project that marks the first time the Chinese offshore services company has undertaken a complete contract of this type for an FPSO, consolidating the company's competitiveness and influence in the global market for these facilities.
The final investment decision (FID) and the agreement signing ceremony took place in Luanda, Angola, with the participation of Azule Energy, the project shareholders, ANPG, and the relevant contracting parties. CIMC Raffles was represented at the ceremony by Li Minggao, Vice President of CIMC Raffles, and Wang Haibing, Director of the Marketing Center.
The Greater PAJ project aims to exploit five fields (Palas, Astraea Central, Juno, Dione, and Urano), 200 kilometers off the coast of Angola, at a depth of between 1,500 and 2,000 meters.
The Greater PAJ floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) platform will be responsible for the reception, processing, storage, and offloading of oil and gas. Once operational, the FPSO will have a production capacity of up to 95,000 barrels of oil per day.
Under this contract, CIMC Raffles will be responsible for the general contracting of the Greater PAJ FPSO, covering the entire process, including conceptual design (FEED), basic and detailed design, procurement of materials and equipment, construction, towing, and offshore installation and commissioning.
EPCIC is a high-end general contracting model in the offshore oil and gas sector, encompassing engineering design, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning. It demands a high level of competence in engineering design, supply chain integration, project management, construction and integration, as well as in the organization of offshore installation and commissioning.
With years of experience in the offshore sector, including FPSOs, FPUs, and FLNGs, CIMC Raffles has provided the client with a comprehensive solution for this project. This represents a strategic improvement for the company in the segment of floating production, storage, and offloading vessels (EPC), moving from independent work packages, such as standardized design, hull EPC, and partial EPC of topside modules, to an integrated end-to-end delivery capability for complete vessels.
Looking ahead, CIMC Raffles will continue to leverage the Greater PAJ FPSO project as a launch platform, in line with its internationalization and high-end development strategy.
