Exmar Converts Simaisma LNG Carrier into Floating LNG Supply Unit

Exmar announced the reception of the Simaisma LNG carrier, with a capacity of 146,000 m³, which will undergo a dry dock maintenance period, including modifications to adapt it for use as a floating transshipment unit (FTU), dedicated to LNG supply.

Exmar CEO, Carl-Antoine Saverys, stated that "at Exmar, we are pleased to help our client continue to promote the use of LNG as fuel for the shipping industry. The Fuel Transfer Unit (FTU) is a smart solution that allows our client to reduce logistical costs related to LNG supply. With this solution, we leverage Exmar's nearly 50 years of experience in the LNG sector. We look forward to implementing more of these assets to develop the full potential of LNG as fuel for the maritime industry."

The FTU will receive large LNG cargoes from commercial LNG carriers, and specialized LNG bunkering vessels will load from it before delivering it as fuel to other vessels that use this clean LNG.
