Following our previous communication regarding the impact of the earthquake in Venezuela, we would like to provide an additional update on the relief measures and operational guidance currently in place for customers affected by the situation in La Guaira.
The safety and well-being of our employees, partners, and the communities where we operate remain our highest priority. We continue to closely monitor developments and work with the relevant authorities and local teams to minimize disruption to our customers' supply chains.
To support customers impacted by the situation in La Guaira, Maersk will implement the following relief measures:
These measures are intended to support business continuity and provide a transparent and consistent approach for customers directly impacted by the current situation.
As previously communicated, commercial operations at the Port of La Guaira remain suspended until further notice.
In accordance with instructions issued by Venezuelan Customs authorities, cargo originally destined for La Guaira that has been redirected and discharged at Puerto Cabello may continue to be reflected in customs records and related transport documentation as cargo associated with La Guaira, despite being physically discharged in Puerto Cabello, unless customer request to change the documentation to Puerto Cabello.
Customers should therefore expect that related customs manifests and Bills of Lading may reference La Guaira, in line with guidance provided by the relevant authorities.
Furthermore, effective 28 June 2026, in accordance with the Terms of Service and while operations at the Port of La Guaira remain suspended, Maersk will declare voyages originally destined for La Guaira concluded in Puerto Cabello as the port where these shipments will be delivered.
We encourage customers with shipment-specific questions regarding documentation, cargo status, or customs processing to contact their local Maersk representative.
We will continue monitoring the situation closely and provide further updates as additional information becomes available.
If you have any questions regarding your cargo, bookings, documentation, or applicable charges, please contact your local Maersk representative.
