Hamburg-based MPC Capital will change its name to MPC Oceanic Group, a new brand that combines its 30-year tradition and marks the next chapter of a strategic transformation that has redefined the company over the last decade, growing far beyond its origins as a pure investment manager to become a fully integrated investment, services, and operations group in the maritime and energy sectors.
As an operator, the Group manages a diversified maritime services platform that supports approximately 500 vessels for industrial clients worldwide, with technical, commercial, digital, and performance management capabilities. This includes technical manager Wilhelmsen Ahrenkiel, shipping agent Harper Petersen Albis, maritime IT provider Waterway, as well as AI and performance management specialist Bestship.
Beyond its operational platform, MPC Oceanic has a strong track record as an investor, investment manager, and business developer. Together with investors and partners, the Group develops, structures, finances, and manages investments in the maritime and energy sectors, combining entrepreneurial capital with extensive operational expertise.
Over the years, MPC Oceanic has developed various successful investment platforms and operational businesses, creating long-term value for investors and partners. One of the most prominent examples is MPC Container Ships, which has become one of the world's leading providers of container shipping with a fleet of approximately 60 vessels.
More recently, MPC Oceanic has developed nearly 40 new vessels for various partners, with a total investment volume of approximately USD 2.5 billion, and has expanded its activities in the renewable energy sector in Latin America and Europe.
Under the new brand, the Group gives this evolution a clear identity and a platform for the next phase of growth.
Constantin Baack, CEO of MPC Oceanic Group, explained that "MPC Oceanic Group marks the next chapter in the evolution of our company, building on the strategic principles that have guided our successful growth over the last decade. We have become a company that invests, manages, and operates in the maritime and energy sectors. Our new name reflects this reality with an identity as ambitious and international as the company itself."
"This is not a change of course, but the natural continuation of the path we have successfully followed for many years. It reflects both who we are today and the role we aspire to play: driving the world's progress reliably, every day, for generations to come," added Baack.
The name change will take effect in early September and will be implemented in stages. External communication of the new brand begins now in July 2026, but shareholders will be asked to approve the name change at the Annual General Meeting on August 28. Once approved, the new name will be registered in the commercial register and will have full legal effect.
