The Liberia-flagged tanker Havva Ana caught fire while transiting the Canakkale Strait in Turkiye in the early hours of 5 August. No injuries among the crew members or pollution were reported.

The incident occurred at 5:30 am local time while the vessel was in ballast when it suffered engine failure, and at the same time the fire was detected in the funnel while transiting Gallipoli.
Promptly, the captain of the tanker alerted the Dardanelles Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) Directorate. In response, Turkey's General Directorate of Coastal Safety (KEGM) dispatched the rescue tugs Kurtarma 20 and Kurtarma 16 to assist the vessel.
Authorities also notified other ships scheduled to transit the strait about the incident to ensure navigational safety. Following this, the tanker was assisted by a pilot, and tugs were escorted to Şevketiye Anchorage Area.
Havva Ana is a 2024-built Asphalt/Bitumen Tanker that measures 119.99 meters in length and 18 meters in width. The vessel was en route from Bulgaria to Adana at the time of the incident.
