The Minister of Energy and Mines, Guillermo Shinno Huamaní, stated that the declaration of emergency for hydrocarbon supply in the Ucayali region is due to a reduced level of fuel storage in Pucallpa, a situation that creates supply difficulties and encourages speculation.
To this end, the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) issued a ministerial resolution establishing the possibility of temporarily enabling storage tanks currently designated for other uses, to store hydrocarbons, mainly diesel 2.
"Currently, the city of Pucallpa and other areas of Ucayali have an inventory capacity equivalent to barely between 1.5 and 3 days of consumption," he indicated.
He added that this situation has generated supply difficulties and favored price speculation.
"The aim is to increase available inventories in the region and raise storage capacity to reach approximately seven days of supply," he specified.
The reduced level of existing inventories in Pucallpa and other regions of the country is one of the factors that has generated speculation in fuel prices, harming people's economy.
The declaration of emergency seeks to immediately address the supply problem and contribute to stabilizing the regional market.
