On Monday (9), the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, will participate in the APM Terminals Suape ceremony marking the delivery of 28 equipment units for the port terminal, which is in its final implementation phase and will be the first 100% electrified terminal in Latin America. The Private Use Terminal (TUP), authorized by MPor, involves investments exceeding R$2 billion.
Geared towards handling containers and general cargo, the terminal is located in the Suape Port Complex. The construction generated over 2,000 direct jobs, in addition to thousands of indirect positions. Operations are expected to begin in the second half of 2026, with an initial capacity to handle up to 400,000 TEUs per year.
Electrified Equipment
With investments of R$241 million, the terminal will feature fully electrified equipment, eliminating the use of fossil fuels and aligning with the company's global goal of achieving net zero by 2040. The infrastructure includes two Ship to Shore (STS) cranes, seven Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes, two Reach Stackers, one 16-ton forklift, two empty container handlers, and 14 Terminal Tractors.
Part of the equipment will be remotely operated from control rooms, a technology that contributes to increasing operational safety and efficiency. With this structure, the terminal will also be able to handle larger vessels, expanding the port's logistical capacity.
