The Port of São Francisco do Sul (Brazil) announced an investment of over USD 5 million in infrastructure. Specifically, logistical improvements will be made to enhance the connection of the port's terminals.
Through a statement, the Brazilian port reported that "the interventions cover 1.4 kilometers of road, starting from kilometer zero of BR-280, in front of the Santa Catarina Terminal (Tesc), and include the implementation of two new traffic lanes over approximately 800 meters of BR-280 and another 600 meters on Avenida Engenheiro Leite Ribeiro, which connects the federal highway to the port."
It was also detailed that "it includes paving services, restoration, drainage, signaling, and complementary interventions. The work aims to expand the access capacity to the port complex, improve truck flow, and contribute to cargo movement. Execution is expected to last ten months.
This milestone is part of the port's 71st-anniversary celebration, an occasion that was used to inaugurate three new warehouses within the maritime station.
"The three structures add up to 15,000 square meters of storage area, with approximately 5,000 square meters each. The expansion of the storage area will increase cargo storage capacity, optimize the flow of goods in and out, and reduce operational bottlenecks," it was added.
In this regard, the President of the Port of São Francisco, Cleverton Vieira, assured that "we increased our storage capacity by 20% with these new sheds, using the most modern control technology and authorized by the Receita Federal (Customs).
"They will be used for the reception of imported material, especially steel. So today we see here that there are already even coils; we are already using this warehouse, even today on the inauguration date. This will be very important for the industrial production of Santa Catarina and Brazil in the reception of these inputs," Vieira concluded.
