Ecuador recorded a trade surplus of USD 2.339 million between January and June 2026, according to the Central Bank of Ecuador (BCE). Exports reached a historic record during the first half of the year, driven by the dynamism of the oil and non-oil sectors.
Shrimp, mining products, and bananas led external sales, while imports grew by 18%, mainly due to increased purchases of raw materials, fuels, and lubricants. China remained among the country's main trading partners.
The performance of foreign trade reflects increased activity in the production, transport, and logistics chains linked to international markets. This scenario maintains the relevance of port infrastructure and logistical efficiency to sustain Ecuador's export competitiveness.
