Alicante – September 9, 2026 – The Port of Alicante continues to consolidate its growth during 2026. According to provisional statistics accumulated until August, the port infrastructure has moved 2,227,489 tons of goods, compared to 1,811,311 tons registered in the same period of 2025, representing an increase of 22.98%.
These results reflect the strengthening of the commercial and logistical activity of the port area, as well as the capacity of the Port of Alicante to continue gaining weight in maritime freight transport.
The evolution is mainly driven by general cargo, which reached 1,323,933 tons, 44.45% more than in the first eight months of the previous year. Within this category, containerized cargo stands out, registering a growth of 46.49%, reaching 1,211,021 tons.
Container traffic exceeds 166,000 TEU
Containerized traffic maintains a very positive trajectory. Between January and August, 166,524 TEU were moved, compared to 125,890 in the same period of 2025, representing an increase of 32.28%.
This performance confirms Alicante's consolidation as a logistics platform for containerized cargo traffic and reinforces its role within national and international supply chains.
Foreign trade grows more than 22%
Foreign trade continues to be one of the main growth engines of port activity. Until August, foreign trade reached 1,107,084 tons, 22.24% more than in the same period of the previous year.
In this section, exports stand out, totaling 612,670 tons, representing an increase of 38.66% compared to 2025. Meanwhile, imports reached 494,414 tons, with a growth of 6.60%.
These data highlight the strategic role of the Port of Alicante as an exit point for products to international markets and as an entry point for the province's logistics chains.
Liquid bulk and Ro-Ro traffic grow
Among the traffics with the best performance, liquid bulk stands out, reaching 64,691 accumulated tons, 78.41% more than in August 2025.
Ro-Ro traffic also maintains a favorable evolution. Goods transported by other Ro-Ro means reached 73,734 tons, 35.10% more than last year, while Ro-Ro container traffic grew by 35.65%.
Likewise, vehicle traffic associated with port activity totaled 49,287 units, representing an increase of 7.96% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Cruises maintain positive figures in the annual accumulated total
Passenger traffic reached 298,788 accumulated travelers until August, 0.88% more than in the same period of 2025.
Within this activity, the cruise sector maintains a positive evolution, with 191,686 passengers, 11.22% more than the previous year. In addition, the port matched the 64 cruise calls registered in the same period of 2025.
An increasingly diversified activity
The data accumulated until August show a favorable evolution of the main activity indicators of the Port of Alicante. The growth of goods, containers, foreign trade, and exports confirms the dynamism of a port infrastructure that continues to expand its capacity to attract new traffic and strengthen its position as a strategic logistics hub in the Mediterranean.
In accumulated terms, the Port of Alicante has moved up to August 23% more goods, 32% more containers, and nearly 39% more exports than in the same period of 2025, thus consolidating the growth path initiated during the current year.
