The Port Authority of Almería (APA) held a technical visit this week, following its corresponding call on the Public Sector Contracting Platform, for those interested in the tender for the main phase of the port-city urban integration project, which was published at the end of July with a budget of 24.3 million euros (VAT included).
This is the fourth such event organized by the APA, with previous ones referring to the tenders for the expansion of the Pechina Dock, the maritime station's envelope, and the installation of the 1-megawatt photovoltaic solar plant in Ribera I. The APA schedules these visits, advised by its technical team, especially due to the technical complexity of the action or investment carried out by the port authority in the work and, above all, for the sake of transparency, with the aim of equally answering technical questions that may have arisen during the project study process for bidders.
The visit, which was guided and attended by the heads of the Infrastructure and Innovation and Strategic Planning departments, Antonio Ferrer and Alejandro Martínez, respectively, was well received, with more than 50 technical representatives from about 20 companies attending. They toured the 4 hectares of public port domain that will be adapted and urbanized for its opening to the city of Almería.
The project for the execution of actions on the coastal front in port-city spaces of Almería, to which the main phase refers, includes the improvement of the condition and urbanization of the Levante Dock, as well as the demolition of the current breakwater to achieve a panoramic view of the Cable Inglés. It also includes the re-urbanization of the Almadrabillas area, from the pedestrian bridge connecting to the Levante Dock, which will be expanded, to the Club de Mar area, the surroundings of the Cable Inglés, and the promenade.
This project defines all the necessary actions to develop the service area of the public port domain for spaces intended for uses linked to port-city interaction in accordance with the Delimitation of Uses and Port Spaces (DEUP) of the Port of Almería and is aligned with the Strategic Framework of the Port System of General Interest, which establishes among its main goals to improve the port-city relationship, integrating infrastructures into the territorial environment and facilitating access to nautical and recreational uses for the public.
