The Mayor of Algeciras ( Spain), José Ignacio Landaluce, requested the Ministry of Transport to fulfill its commitments regarding the completion of ongoing projects aimed at optimizing the port's southern access.
According to reports, the head of the City Council stated that he will remain vigilant "until they are completely finished and executed in all their terms. Algeciras needs the infrastructure to be fully completed and for those works that are still pending to be complemented," he assured.
Furthermore, Landaluce emphasized that the Ministry must maintain the commitment made to the city and complete its corresponding initiatives, highlighting that the City Council has insisted that the importance of the southern access is not limited to improving the entry and exit of cargo and passengers, but also must guarantee connection with the city's peripheral areas.
In this regard, the head of the Municipal Urban Planning Office, Yéssica Rodriguez, indicated that "it would make no sense to improve accessibility to the port if, at the same time, the infrastructure ended up becoming a wall dividing our city," she noted.
Among the main works requested are improving the asphalt, mainly on Ronda Paco de Lucía, and repairing plates and elements of the El Varadero roundabout.
