Celebrity Cruises celebrated the float-out of the Celebrity Compass, the first ship in its new river cruise division, at the Zwijnenburg shipyard in Rotterdam.
The vessel, which is the first of 20 river cruise ships projected until 2031 to sail the Rhine and Danube, completed the construction of its exterior and its first 80-kilometer river journey to the TeamCo shipyard in Heusden, to continue its construction work. The first sailing with guests is scheduled for August 2027.
The ship features 86 cabins divided into five categories, eight restaurants and bars. Its technology includes a specially designed hull to improve navigation on rivers, along with a hybrid propulsion system and technical solutions to reduce noise and vibrations.
"This is a decisive milestone on the path to realizing our vision for Celebrity River Cruises. With this ship, we are reimagining river cruising the Celebrity way, combining elevated design, exceptional hospitality, and destination-rich experiences to create a journey like no other on the river," explained Laura Hodges Bethge, President of Celebrity Cruises.
