In the framework of continuously strengthening commercial and logistical ties with the Andean macro-zone, Empresa Portuaria Iquique (EPI) welcomed a delegation of 24 representatives from the Departmental Federation of Mining Cooperatives of Potosí, Bolivia, an entity belonging to FENCOMIN.
Coordinated by ProChile Tarapacá, we led an inter-institutional welcome at our facilities alongside the Seremi de Minería, the concessionaire Iquique Terminal Internacional, Zofri S.A., and the Asociación de Industriales de Iquique, reflecting the public-private commitment and synergy that consolidates the region's value proposition.
During the meeting, EPI's General Manager, Rubén Castro Hurtado, presented to the mining representatives the operational benefits, infrastructure, and competitive advantages that position the Port of Iquique as the most efficient platform for connecting their cargo with international markets.
This instance reaffirms Tarapacá's strategic role in facilitating foreign trade and opens opportunities for the exchange of best practices, goods, and services for the Bolivian mining industry. This is in line with the conversations and relationships that have been strengthened recently between the states of Chile and Bolivia.
The representative of the mining cooperatives of Potosí, Segundino Escobar Flores, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and, like the leaders accompanying him, valued the importance of strengthening ties with Tarapacá and especially the opportunities opened by Iquique's logistical/port activity.
