The first of what is currently planned to be 20 vessels for Celebrity River Cruises by 2031 emerged from the building dock at Rotterdam's Zwijnenburg shipyard.
Celebrity Compass then traveled its first 80 kilometers/50 miles on the river to TeamCo Shipyard in Heusden where build-out will continue.
Celebrity Cruises President Laura Hodges Bethge called the float-out a milestone in bringing the vision for Celebrity River Cruises to life.
She promised "elevated design, exceptional hospitality and destination-rich experiences to create a journey unlike any other on the river."
The newbuild sports an innovative hull, delivering a lightweight, versatile design that's expected to improve navigation, while a hybrid propulsion system and advanced technology will reduce noise and vibration.
