Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) announced that the Mitsui Ocean Sakura, operated by MOL Cruises, will enter service on September 19 and make its maiden voyage from the Port of Yokohama.
Prior to the Mitsui Ocean Sakura's entry into service, a large group of stakeholders attended a naming ceremony aboard the ship while it was docked at Yokohama's Shinko Pier Cruise Terminal.
Mitsui Ocean Sakura is the second cruise ship to join the Mitsui Ocean Cruises fleet, after the Mitsui Ocean Fuji, which entered service in December 2024.
Like the Mitsui Ocean Sakura, the new ship features suite cabins with ocean views and will primarily offer short and medium-duration cruises departing from and arriving at ports throughout Japan, with 29 inaugural voyages scheduled during the three-month period until December 2026.
As part of the new onboard experience, the Sushi Bar Shiosai features tables and a counter where guests can enjoy sushi paired with Japanese sake.
